To open my pratice and way of making to the public I run outdoor sculptural circle making workshops. Inspired by the prehistoric stone and timber circles of the atlantic archipelago and their history of communal construction these circle workshops are celebratory events where a group collectively builds a temporary sculptural circle the landscape at using materials gathered from the site.
I aim to encourage people to pay attention to material of the world around them, to allow them to play and to be together in the landscape creating an artwork as a collective. They are a joyful and beautiful thing to do.
The images below show thw workshops at different locations: at Loe Bar in Cornwall to mark the opening of the ACE funded exhibition Gathering, with MA students from Famouth University using scavenged materials from Loveland Community Field in Penryn in 2021, at OD Arts Festival: Still & Still Moving in Somerset and in Newquay Orchard for summer solstice with ALMA Artspace.
